2023 Durell Pinot Noir

Regular price

The grapes in this wine were hand-harvested at the Durell Vineyard and hand-sorted on 9/1/2023. The fruit was fermented in an open top tank with 25% whole cluster fermentation and barrel aged for 15 months before bottling.

Pinot Noir clones 828 and Wadensvil 2A.

Brilliant ruby with garnet edges, the 2023 Durell Vineyard Pinot Noir offers an expressive nose of red cherry, Bing plum, and wild strawberry, with undercurrents of pomegranate, forest floor, and dried herbs. Subtle spice, clove, and a hint of grilled bay leaf add complexity. On the palate it is medium-bodied with silky tannins and bright, focused acidity—pure red fruit-driven flavors transition to savory, mineral-tinged notes on the finish. The texture is refined, with lingering cola and iron-licked accents that speak to the site’s limestone and clay soils.

Vineyard & winemaking: fruit from the famed Durell Vineyard brings concentrated minerality and aromatic clarity; hand-harvested, fermented with a mix of whole clusters and destemmed berries, followed by aging in primarily neutral French oak to preserve freshness and terroir expression.
